Update on Israel

Israel will now require a third booster shot for all people 12 years and older six months after their second vaccine dose in order to renew their “Green Pass,” a document that allows entry into certain gatherings and public places for those who are vaccinated or have recovered from the coronavirus. The move enters effect on October 1, 2021. The Health Ministry could not yet say if a fourth dose would be required six months after the third (source: timesofisrael.com).

Israel's Current Active COVID-19 Patients by Age and Vaccination Status

The age group with the highest number of COVID-19 patients that are fully vaccinated is the 20 to 29 year olds with over 9,000 patients.

The age group with the highest number of COVID-19 patients that are partially vaccinated is 12 to 15 year olds with about 800 patients.

The age group with the highest number of COVID-19 patients that are unvaccinated is 12 to 15 year olds with about 4,250 patients.  (sources: Axios.com and First Trust Advisors)

Never-infected people who were vaccinated in January and February were, in June, July, and the first half of August, 6-13 times more likely to get infected with the Delta variant than unvaccinated people who were previously infected with the coronavirus during January and February of 2021. The risk of developing symptomatic COVID-19 was 27 times higher among the vaccinated, and the risk of hospitalization 7 times higher than in previously infected individuals. This study indicates that natural immunity confers longer lasting and stronger protection against the Delta variant of Covid-19 than two doses of the Pfizer vaccine in Israel (source: medrxiv.com).
